Geological Chart Framed Canvas
Widely considered as one of the greatest geological charts of all time, it was published in the 1893 edition of Levi Walter Yaggy's Geographical Portfolio. His large geographical charts are among the most beautiful and impressive educational charts published in the 19th century.
For this print and many others in Yaggy's Geographical Portfolio, he produced the image using chromolithography, a method of color printing using lithographic stones with different color inks. Previous to this method, lithographs were printed in black and white and then colored by hand, often times with watercolor paint. Chromolithography was not only more suitable for mass production, but also resulted in the much more vibrant images that he is so well known for today.
